About the workshop
This class will expand any student's rhythmic understanding and aid in the development of rhythmic skills which are essential for sound musicianship regardless of their instrument. PLUS, it's a lot of fun!
WHAT IS RHYTHM BAND?
It is a fun experiential workshop where we explore the fundamentals and history of rhythm based music. As a group we play hand drums, tambourines, cowbells AND plastic buckets. Anything that makes a groove. By the end of the session, we will be playing an interlocking groove in two parts. NOTE: Be prepared to get loud and have a good time.
HOW IT WORKS:
We start at the beginning, so there is NO experience necessary. This class is ideal for the non-percussionist student musician who wants to expand their understanding of rhythm. The non-musician will also find the workshop to be equally satisfying. This is a family friendly workshop where everyone in the room will get to participate.
NOTE: Each class is 90-minutes in length and has 6-12 students participating. All instruments are provided.
The Teacher
Nathan Matson is a multi-percussionist who comes with a long history of teaching and performing in Whatcom County. Nathan enjoys working with kids and adults in both individual and group settings. Learn more about Nathan here.
Who should join this class?
