Mandolin is a Violin With Frets???
Did you know…
The mandolin is a violin with frets. It has double strings for each pitch and you use a pick to play it. The tuning (GDAE) and neck length and note distance are the same as the violin. There is also a viola and cello version of the mandolin as well to correspond with those instruments. All violin and fiddle music is easily played once you get used to the pick and the double strings on the mandolin. Because the neck is flat instead of curved, the mandolin can also play chords more readily than the violin. Dave Lyon teaches Mandolin in addition to several other fretted instruments. Dave offers mandolin classes and hopes that many of you violinists will take advantage of this opportunity to learn the violin’s close cousin, the mandolin.
