Safety, Education, Fun - Our response to Covid-19

Music lessons, Covid-19, Safety

In Person & Online Music Lessons

For those wanting Safe, Educational, and Fun online music lessons you have come to the right place.  We offer online lessons with local teachers who are giving you the best music lessons possible.  If you are looking for in person lessons with safety, education, and fun in mind then keep reading.  We do that too!

Are in person lessons safe?

The safest way to be protected from Covid-19 during your lesson is to have all lessons online.  At the same time we understand that many students need in person lessons with Safety, Education, and Fun in mind.  At EMS we are going above and beyond when it comes to safety.  Here's what we are doing:

  1. In person lessons are every other week with an online lesson on your week off.  This allows each student to have about 2 weeks before their next in person lesson.  This way if someone were to become ill we can quickly and effectively notify anyone they may have been in contact with.  We keep an organized log of who comes and goes from our music school for every lesson.
  2. Every person who enters our music school must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth.
  3. We are limiting the amount of people allowed in our building at one time.  We require that students do not bring guests or siblings that are not taking lessons at that time (Yes, you can bring your parent or grownup with you).  We also ask that if you need to bring someone who is not involved in the lesson that they wait in your vehicle.
  4. Please enter our building no more than 5 minutes before your lesson.  After your lesson please respect others space by exiting the building in a timely manner.  Our waiting areas are closed for the time being
  5. After entering we require that everyone wash their hands or use sanitizer on their hands.
  6. We sanitize surfaces with CDC approved disinfectant designed for hospital and industrial use.  Click here to read about 256 Century Q Disinfectant
  7. Plastic shields are in place in each classroom which separates teachers from students and parents during lessons. Check out the photo of one of our teachers in the class room.  She is behind a plastic shield and wearing a mask for safety.
  8. Pianos, door knobs, and other surfaces will be disinfected between each student.
  9. We ask that anyone leaving our school also wash or sanitize their hands when exiting the building.

What if I can't wear a mask or don't want to?

We are happy to teach students online who can not wear a mask or do not want to.  Our priority is the safety of our students, our teachers, and our community.

What if I play flute? I can't wear a mask!

Currently all flute lessons are online for the safety of our students, teachers, and community.  Our flute teacher David Zagelow has been highly successful at working with flute students in an online setting.  As always, the first lesson is free so you can try it for yourself and see why David has become a leader in online music instruction in our area.

What if my teacher isn't offering in person lessons?

We don't require that anyone put themselves in a situation that is unsafe or uncomfortable for them.  If a teacher decides not to teach in person lessons for any reason we support their decision.  Safety is our first priority, always.

We can't do this without your help.

Please don't be offended if someone asks you to put on a mask, mask up, or pull up your mask.  We aren't here to debate personal feelings about Covid-19.  We are here to teach music with Safety, Education, and Fun in mind.  Right now safety includes wearing a mask at all times during in person music lessons.  Educational and Fun music lessons can only happen with everyone's help, so please Mask Up!
